Description: Phenylbenzimidazole Sulffonic Acid is a highly effective UVB absorber with a UV absorbance (E 1%/1cm) of min. 920 at around 302nm which forms water soluble salts with the addition of a base. Effective water-soluble UVB filter when neutralized properly. A small dosage would improve SPF when used with other UV filters. Used in broad-spectrum sun screen and protective daily cosmetics.

Performance: It is an odorless, off-white powder which becomes water soluble upon neutralization. It is recommended to prepare an aqueous pre-mix then neutralize with a suitable base such as NaOH, KOH, Tris, AMP, Tromethamine or Triethanolamine. It is compatible with most cosmetic ingredients, and should be formulated at a pH >7 to prevent crystallization. It has an excellent photostability and safety profile. It is well known in the industry that ES can lead to a tremendous SPF boost, especially in combination with Polysilicone-15 but also with all other available sun filters combinations. ES can be used for water-based transparent sunscreen products such as gels or clear sprays.
